User manual
From connecting to controlling: the complete guide to YiLink's core features.
Prerequisites
- The host has created a share room, or is signed in.
- The host is connected to the YiLink server (retry manually if auto-connect fails).
- A modern browser with WebRTC support: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
Starting a session
Three ways to connect. Direct links and QR codes are one-off shares (no sign-up needed); the signed-in flow keeps your hosts under your account.
- Direct link: copy the room link and open it in a browser.
- QR code: scan the code shown in the host's share info, ideal for mobile.
- Signed in: register in the YiLink Game console, sign in on the host via the tray menu, and your hosts appear in the console list, no per-room confirmation needed.
Anonymous rooms require host-side approval on first connection, stay valid for 8 days, and allow up to 4 concurrent connections. Approved devices reconnect directly while the room is valid.
Input devices
- Mouse: movement, clicks, and scroll are forwarded in real time.
- Keyboard: all input including shortcuts is sent to the host.
- Touch: one finger taps as left click, two-finger long press is right click, two-finger move scrolls.
- Gamepad: needs an XInput-compatible pad and the ViGEmBus driver on the host.
Toolbar settings
- Display mode: windowed or fullscreen. Long-press ESC to exit fullscreen.
- Keyboard filter: blocks the browser's default ESC behavior. On by default.
- Pointer lock (game mode): locks the cursor to the video area and sends relative movement. Off by default; enable it for games.
- Power control: sleep, hibernate, reboot, shut down, lock, or send Ctrl+Alt+Del.
- Monitor switch: pick which host display to view.
- Resolution: host native, client native (recommended default), or custom. Integer scaling ratios look best.
- Bitrate: 5 to 200 Mbps, default 20 (ideal for 1080p@60). Lower it on the public internet, raise it to 30-50 on a LAN.
- Frame rate: 30 to 240 fps. Auto follows the host refresh rate. For games, disable in-game VSync to cut latency.
- Display sync: the host matches the client's resolution and refresh rate, snapping to the closest supported values.
Clipboard sync
- Local to remote: copy locally, paste in the remote window with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.
- Remote to local: copy remotely, paste locally. The browser may ask for clipboard permission.
More
- File transfer works peer to peer in the web client.
- Hosts and clients on the same LAN discover each other automatically.
